My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Blaze could be that dream come true pup for active retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very smart companion. We feel that Blaze would also do well with gentle older kids who enjoy the fun and companionship that a sweet dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Blaze's family not because he doesn't enjoy young kids...he really does - but because we want to make certain he's handled gently and respectfully.

Blaze, at about 30 - 35 lbs (the perfect size to love hiking and very portable to take anywhere a great dog is welcome.) and 9 - 12 months old has the perfect amount of energy for his age. Blaze loves playing and is entertaining in his silly antics, young energy and the huge love he wants to show. Blaze's story is all too common - a guardian who can no longer care for her dog and hasn't made any arrangements for his care. Luck was with Blaze...he was saved from the high-kill shelter due to his engaging manner and very sweet personality.

Blaze may initially be a bit uncertain..but give him just a second (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he is happy to come closer for a welcome hug. Before you know it, Blaze is gently loving you with a soft touch. The Roswell rescuers recognized all of this and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this guy a permanent member of their family.

Once Blaze is given the gift of great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is great) his coat will become the cotton-soft hair that speaks of good health. With periodic baths and brushing, Blaze's coat will return to the stunning one that is natural to his breed mix.

Blaze would do well with a family who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a hike or walk, a visit with friends, a car ride or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Blaze's great temperament. Farfel's isn't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Blaze to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle.

Farfel's has requested that Blaze be neutered prior to his arrival in Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this area of New Mexico. If it doesn't, we'll be happy to cover all costs for his neuter and microchip at our Denver vet.

Blaze is arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 4/23/16.. Meet and Greets are being set up and applications are currently being accepted for this fun and loving best friend. An application can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
