Meet Sassy- This gal has quite a tale to tell. Sassy was brought into the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana on November 16 of 2010. She had been reportedly kicked in the head by a horse at the race track. She has some neurological problems.... she gets into a 'ZONE' and just stares, lets out a squeal bark and starts chasing her imaginary friends. I think we have counted about 6 of them, lol. Sassy is very friendly and just wants to be loved, and she is okay with other dogs, UNTIL she gets into her 'ZONE' which happens at random times and is unprovoked. Sassy also has a heart murmur that she has to take daily medicines for life. When she first arrived, 11/2010, the veterinarian said her heart murmur was so bad she was given 6 months to live.... SHE PROVED HIM WRONG DIDN'T SHE?! Sassy is also DEAF.... Sassy remained at the rescue until October 2014. In October of 2014 Sassy was adopted by a volunteer of ours and we were all so thrilled someone was giving her a chance at a home, that we so long dreamed for her. Unfortunately this week Sassy was returned.... She was returned at no fault of the owners, but it has been determined Sassy has to be the only dog in the home. After months and countless attempts to keep Sassy the family knew it was not fair to her or their other dogs for them to be isolated. We volunteers understand their reasoning and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts for trying for almost a FULL year. Sassy is back at the rescue and it is like she never left, her imaginary friends are back and she is chasing them everywhere and her happy self. Sassy needs a patient home, that realizes she may not be house trained. Sassy needs a home with a fenced in back yard so she can chase her imaginary friends.
