And Along Came the Human Children...
Jake was born about November 16, 2009 and weighs 40 lbs. He is wonderful with the other dog he came in with, which was his sister, but struggled with all the others around the food dishes. He did adjust to the fact he had to share within a couple of days. It would be wonderful for him to have another lady friend going forward. Sadly, it is unusual for us to be able to place two dogs together and, just like us humans, we are not always able to stay with our spouse throughout life whether due to death or divorce so it's ok for us to go out and find someone new. He has always had a fenced yard so that would be really nice in his next life too and he does have the Beagle wanderlust so a fence or a leash will be necessary in his future. He is house trained and used to having a doggie door so he adjusted very quickly here. He is here because the second child came along and they couldn't handle two kids and two dogs and Jake wasn't that appreciative of the kids. Jake definitely will need some warm up time to potential adopters. One more thing, he did test postive for lyme back in 2010 and again upon coming here. There are absolutely no symptoms and no treatment needed unless symptoms do appear (lameness) and then a course of doxycycline would be required. The Adoption Fee for this dog is $75.00.
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES
We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
Our primary goals here at Joyful Rescues are to re-home pets and save them from becoming homeless in the future, educate the public on pet care and spaying/neutering to control the pet overpopulation, to spay/neuter every pet before they leave us and spay/neuter as many pets, belonging to the public, as possible within our means.
