My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Breed: Labrador Mix

Age: Approx 10 weeks (D.O.B. 02/09/16)

On March 2nd the lives of three week old Jett and her siblings changed for the better. Eighteen (18) dogs in total were saved from one house on a bitterly cold night in Detroit. Four rescues came together to take in dogs along with transporters and “co-pilots” in a six car motorcade to make the save. Jett and her siblings have been taken care of in a foster home and are now ready to find their forever homes.

Approximate age / weight: 10 weeks and 14 lbs.

Personality: She's a puppy. Puppies are cute and bouncy and love to be cuddled. Each puppy has its own personality, of course. Some are more adventurous, some are a little timid, but they’re all at the stage where their personalities are still developing, and can be adjusted (to a degree) with training and socialization. Puppies are cute, but they also are a lot of work, and will need training and proper socialization to ensure they grow into well-behaved adult dogs.

Forever home: Young puppies can thrive in almost any situation, with the right guidance. What they need most of all is a family willing to put in the work and time to help them grow up, and to commit to caring for them their whole lives. Please remember, puppies don’t magically become well-behaved, well-adjusted adult dogs. It takes work and commitment on the part of their human family. They need to be taught where to potty, how to greet friends and strangers, and basic obedience. They need to be given lots of exposure to new people and situations to ensure that they are well socialized and confident.

Good With Kids: Yes, loves everyone

Good With Other Dogs: Yes

Good With Cats: Yes

Housetrained: Working on it

Crate Trained: Pretty Much

Walks Nicely On A Leash: Have yet to attempt

Knows Basic Commands: Learning quickly

Energy Level (Couch Potato, Moderate, or High): Moderate

$225 for adult dogs. Different adoption fees apply for older dogs, small breeds and puppies -
$125 senior dogs (9 years +)
$275 for small breed dogs
$250 for puppies plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age.
Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.

We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. To meet a dog in person, please see our event calendar for the latest information. Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).

Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.

Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
