My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Harley. Please take the time to read his story. Harley is approximately 5 years old and weighs approximately 25 pounds (4/19/16). This is his 3rd chance at a furever home. The first adoption, Harley went to the home of an elderly man where he lived on a carport, tethered to a chain, and was allowed inside only when it was cold. The day the initial adopter entered a retirement facility, Harley lucked up with a loving new owner who provided him with a wonderful home. Sadly, his second adopter passed away. Harley is a companion dog who loves attention and gets along well with other dogs. Harley took classes at Petsmart from March thru December 2014. Following is a list of the commands that he knows. He is very smart and deserving of a third and forever adopter! He is in foster care, where he will stay until his lucky adopter finds him. Get rescued by Harley. You won't regret it!

Sit
Tell him to sit. You can also move your open hand in a slight downward motion at the same time. He was beginning to do this with just the hand command.

Lay down
From a sitting position tell him to lay down. You can also move your open hand in a lower downward motion at the same time. He was also beginning to do this with just the hand command.

Sit/Lay down
I played a game with him making him to both quickly. He had fun doing this.

Watch me
Tell him to sit. Put your fingers to your eyes and tell him to watch you. Wait as long as you want then tell him to take the treat.

Stay
Tell him to sit and stay. You should be able to walk around him even go out of the room and he will stay.

Hide and Seek
Tell him to sit and stay. Walk out of the room and call his name and say come here.

Leave it
Tell him to sit and stay. Put a treat on the floor in front of him or throw it a distance away. Make him wait as long as you want then tell him to take it.

Loose Leash-Keep in mind he did this on the left mostly because Dad used left hand for leash)
He will walk on a loose leash. If he walks ahead pull him back and stomp your foot, telling him to slow down at the same time. He should slow down if you just stomp foot.

By my side(This is how he should greet people)
You can say “by my side” and he should stand by you.

Red Light Green Light
With him sitting at a distance tell him to come, you can motion with your hand also. Then tell him to stop, hold your hand open in front of you. Make him stop several times before he gets to you. Don’t reward him if he doesn’t stop.

Crawl
At a lay down position, drag your and in front of him and he will crawl. We have not done this one too often. He can do it some.

Wave
Tell him to sit. Wave your hand (left/right motion) and tell him to wave. He should only lift one front paw. Give treat only if he stays sitting and keeps other front paw on floor.

Spin
From standing tell him to spin, make a clockwise circle motion over him. He can spin several times in a row if you continue. He doesn’t go counterclockwise.

Lay on hip We didn’t do this too often, so I don’t think he will do it.
From sit you tell him to settle, showing your fist making a down motion.

Go to your spot(We didn’t do this too often)
If you want him to do sit or lay down away from you, show him where his spot is that you will always use as his spot. Tell him go to your spot, you will need to lead him there, he didn’t do this much. When you want him to move from his spot tell him come here.

I'm living in McComb, Mississippi, but the good folks at Animal Rescue Front will bring me up north to you and the trip is included in the adoption fee. If you're interested in taking me into your forever home, please fill out the adoption form here: http://animalrescuefront.org/forms/
