My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET The KID

Jenell, our ODR-Inc Volunteer with the mostest just saved the cutest, most adorable, tiny Miniature Dachshund ever. He is so P.E.R.F.E.C.T. The Kid is just 21 months old and just 8 lbs of cuteness. While we don't recommend this, it helps to give you an idea of his size...The KID fits inside Jenell's large handbag. The KID displays excellent breeding and is AKC (with no papers). He is absolutely the best tiny little man with personality plus. He loves running the land and like all puppies, plays non stop. Jenell named him THE KID . He loves people but he also loves his big wire crate filled with blankets and bully sticks and lots and lots of squeaker toys. The KID is very eager to learn and please. He could be placed with an active, playful, young spayed female Dachshund. The KID is so active that he will do best in a home with no cats, children over the age of 10 and a stay at home (retired/work from home) parent. He needs a little work on barking other than that this is one amazing pup. If you're interested in meeting The KID, please visit www.odr-inc.org and complete an Adoption Questionnaire.

Like all Dachshunds, The KID is high energy and enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, The KID needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give The KID a happy, carefree life? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
