Everybody needs sunshine, and Sunshine Kitty needs YOU! Sunshine was rescued as part of OAR’s Freedom Ride Program; a program that gives selected cats and kittens in kill shelters a ticket out, and a ticket into OAR to find their forever homes. Sunshine had some health issues upon arrival, but was put into foster care where she received great care, and is now all healthy and ready to look full-time for her new person or family. Sunshine’s foster mom reports that she is such a mellow cat! She never hissed or growled at her other three resident kitties. That totally endeared Sunshine to her foster mom. Sometimes, if foster mom scratched her back or Sunshine was purring, she would stick her tongue out just a bit. Must have made her feel really relaxed. Another silly characteristic of Sunshine is that she would randomly just take off on a tear, and run all through the house – at high speed. She enjoys petting, and would occasionally sit on laps. She never jumped on counters or tables, and she pretty much ate anything foster mom put in front of her (not at all a picky eater). Sunshine mostly likes to take naps and lounge around (who doesn’t), and was a permanent fixture on one dining room chair. This beautiful long-haired black beauty is longing for a family; one that will love and care for her forever. Why not put a little “Sunshine” in your life? It will make you feel really good, and make Sunshine feel really good (and happy) too. It is a “win win.”..

Our Adoption Process...

We have many cats and kittens looking for wonderful homes! All of our cats are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, tested for FIV and Feline Leukemia, and microchipped. Adoption fee is $50. Because we like for our cats to go home in pairs, we have a standing 2 for 1 adoption special -- you can adopt 2 cats for one fee of $50.

Meet some of our cats and kittens, and fill out an application today! An OAR representative will get in touch with you to discuss your application. We do require a phone screening before an adoption so if you are coming to visit the cats and hope to take a cat or kitten home that day, fill out and submit the application at least a day beforehand so we can pre-approve your adoption.

As of 3/7/12, our adoption policy requires that the adopters of our cats not declaw the cats, no matter what the cat's age. We will, with our adoption counselors' help, provide potential adopters with information on alternatives to declawing. We also sometimes have previously declawed cats up for adoption. These can be a good alternative for adopters who are adamant about declawing.
