Mikey's Story...
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Mikey is a 5 year old boy that had a Momma that was home all the time.  Then last year she went to work full time and did not make arrangements for him to be given potty breaks during her long days at work.  He could not hold his bladder all day, and started going in the house, which is completely understandable as his little bladder was not use to holding it during the day.

He is doing great here being crate trained when he can't be watched, and sometimes putting on a belly band to see if it gets wet from him going in the house.  It has been dry 99% now.  And he never potties in his crate.  He loves to sit with me, and would love a new mom that would give him the time he needs, and not be gone away from home all day.  He is a cuddly sweet boy that follows me around like a shadow...and he is very quiet too...but boy does he love his toys. :)

So if you are a family that can give Mikey the time he needs to get 100% housebroken again, and are retired or stay at home full time, then please apply....but he will not go to a home that will not work and understand his needs right now.

His adoption fee is $200

We are all volunteers and all money is spent on helping the animals in the rescue and sanctuary.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mikey, a Dothan Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Dothan, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Dothan.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Dothan already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Dothan breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Dothan paves the way for another one to be saved.
