Hi Everyone! My name is Sydney, nice to meet you! I am a 13 yr old Umbrella Cockatoo. My former mommy loved me very much but due to health issues, she couldn't take care of me any longer. She hopes that allowing FPR to find me a new home will give me a chance to have the love and attention I deserve for the rest of my fairly long life :)
I am always happy, excited and ready to play. I look forward to that time of the day when my foster dad gets home. He always lets me out of my cage as soon as he walks in the door. I get so excited! I walk all over my cage and I talk to him. I can say "Pretty Girl" and "please". Sometimes I will step up, but my foster dad calls it "a work in progress", whatever that means.
I am on a basic diet of Zupreem pellets, fresh fruits and nutriberries. That "V" word (veggies) seems to be missing from my diet, but I know my foster dad will keep trying till he finds some I will eat.
I used to chew on my feathers but my foster dad has been working with me on that and now they are growing back. We are both really excited about that! I like to take daily showers and that helps my feathers a lot. I seem to get along well with the other birds in my foster home and the dogs. Please remember, though, to never leave me and your 4 footed, furry friend out together unsupervised, no matter how well we *seem* to get along.
I would make a good companion and friend for someone living in a single family home. Please remember, I AM a cockatoo and I can be loud, as can all cockatoos, it's who we are. I am not suited to apartment or condo living for that reason and can't be placed with a family that lives in either. I know my forever home is out there. Is it with you?
