Jared & Licorice's Story...
Jared and Licorice are playful, active, happy and fun, 10-week-old male and female sibling kittens looking for a loving guardian - together.

Jared is a brown tabby boy with gorgeous markings. Licorice looks like she is part Maine Coon with fluffy black fur and a white spot on her chest. Licorice is the braver of the two, but Jared loves to play with his sister and they both love people of all ages, other cats and cat-friendly dogs.

Jared and Licorice have received their first distemper vaccine, are virus-tested and de-wormed. They will be micro-chipped, neutered and spayed at four months by the rescue. To meet and possibly adopt this bonded pair, please contact Melia at melia88@comcast.net. Their adoption donation of $200 as a pair benefits the rescued pets of Lucky Dog.

They are being fostered in Burr Ridge, Illinois. Their foster mom reports that they already have excellent litter box habits.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jared & Licorice, a Chicago American Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Shorthair for sale in Chicago, or seeking a American Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Shorthair breeders who help with American Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
