Maude's Story...
Maude was adopted from our shelter a few months ago and renamed Shay by her new family. Over a week ago Maude/Shay was found roaming at large and despite multiple attempts to contact her adotper, and emergency contact she remains here at the shelter. We are placing her up for adoption again in hopes she'll get lucky and be adopted a second time. Maude is great with kids, house and crate trained, and we think she's 4-5 years old. She's sweet, friendly, and weighs around 55lbs. Adoption fee is $100.00 Dog adoption is 130.00 and includes spay/neuter, heartworm testing, age appropriate vaccines including a 3 year rabies, health exam, deworming, and microchipping. Any animal 6 months or older is considered an adult. No animals are vetted until they are adopted as we do not have a vet on staff. Once the animal is adopted we make a vet appointment, and they must go to be vetted before they can go home with an adopter. Call 985.651.7387 for more information regarding adoption.

Act quickly to adopt Maude. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Maude, a Laplace German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever for sale in Laplace, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Laplace.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Laplace already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Laplace breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Laplace paves the way for another one to be saved.
