My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Annie is an AARB (Amazing Assortment of Retired Beagles) girl looking for her forever home. She is honestly as sweet as they come, and had no trouble settling into our daily routine. She does the normal things retired beagles do - eat, sleep, repeat! She also loves to go for walks and can walk quite the distance! She's great on a leash. She is also great with other dogs and cats. She is not alpha at all.

Annie does not get on the furniture, even though we DO allow it. She prefers her cozy dog beds. She sleeps all night in her dog bed, too. One thing Annie really looks forward to is her morning breakfast dates with her foster dad. She hears him making coffee in the morning, and trots downstairs because she knows she gets a little treat.

Annie is crated when we aren't home and she does well. She actually knows the routine and runs in her crate when she knows I'm leaving (because she gets a little snack). She's a very quiet little girl and only barks occasionally when she sees a critter in the yard. Her arooooo is so soft and adorable!

Annie is housebroken, however, she needs to be let out more often than a younger dog or she's likely to have an accident. She likes to drink a lot. We use a tie out for her, and she doesn't mind it.

When Annie came into our home, she had already been diagnosed with benign pituitary Cushings disease. We treated her, and over the past few months the vet regularly tested her. Annie is at the point now where she will need a visit every 6 months or so to check in, and possibly a blood test. She is stable and happy; not currently on any medications, although that could change in the future.

As her foster mom, I can tell you that Annie has been such a joy to have in our home. We love her very much and she brings us nothing but happiness. I forget sometimes that she even has Cushings because she is well and acts just like a normal dog. She will just need continued monitoring and regular vet visits to stay happy and healthy.
