Kemp, aka 'Cheewoowoo' is a 6 year old Chihuahua who loves his people. He loves to squish next to them and snuggle.
He even wraps his neck across them to show how much he cares.
Cheewoowoo is a happy little guy that loves to go for walks and rides in the car. He's a pretty good walker, and walks daily with his foster family. He has no problem keeping up.
Cheewoowoo is very vocal and growls sometimes. He even does it when he's getting a head rub. He can get a bit crabby though so young children are best off not around him.... although he does not dislike them. He has an eleven year old human foster sister that he absolutely adores. He sits next to her and sleeps in her bed. At night he pulls a blanket over himself and drifts off to sleep.
Cats are a little too interesting to him so he needs a home without them. Kemp is fine with other dogs, but since he's so people oriented, he doesn't need a dog brother or sister.
Kemp will be your best friend for life, give you daily hugs, and keep you company:) If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at http://caws.org/html/adoption_application.html

About Community Animal Welfare Society

About Our Rescue Group...

Founded in 1992 the Community Animal Welfare Society ( CAWS) is one of the oldest no-kill animal rescues in Utah. Over the last 20 years CAWS, our fosters and supporters have saved thousands of lives including over 600 last this year. As the largest foster home network in the state of Utah we focus on high risk pets in need of additional care and rehabilitation

Come Meet Our Pets...

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.

Our Adoption Process...

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.
