Meet Mr Noel. He has been here at MGF for over 3 years. He would be great for a dog trainer or an experienced handler of abused dogs. He truly is a loving companion. He is now a 7 years young Beagle/American Staffordshire Terrier/Chow Chow/Golden Retriever mix whose interests include walking, hiking, going for a drive and collecting treasures. This boy is house trained, is leashed trained, has basic commands down, he gets along with adults he has learned to trust. He likes to sleep near his humans.
Noel likes to be left alone when he's eating, he guards his treasures in his room and he does NOT like to be picked up. X-rays show his body being battered starting as early as 5-10 months old (broken bones). He does not like to be stared at with people he does not trust. It is best for strangers to ignore him at first. Trust takes time for him.
Due to this he will need an adult only family who knows how to build trust with an abused dog. Willing to give him the time he needs to develop trust. He will trust again; it takes time and patience. He loves to cuddle with me in bed as long as he feels safe and I am not too grabby. He is even learning to be playful and silly as his videos on YouTube show.
Noel will be happiest when he can be a part of his person's activities. His family will need to be sure that Noel feels like he is part of a close knit group. He is neutered; micro chipped, vaccinated, licensed and has a complete health workup. Due to Noels lifetime of abuse he has fear triggers; so him being an only pet and with a family without children would be best. He will go home with his new family with all his medical records and DNA test results.
