My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Northern California Weimaraner Rescue, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Please visit www.norcalweimrescue.org to fill out our online Adoption Application

JAY, approx 2 y/o male Weimaraner. Jay is a sweet, fun-loving boy. He takes what comes his way without any fuss; he was found on a country road having been hit by a car and was picked up by an officer and taken to an emergency vet. He allowed everyone who moved him and treated him along the way, to handle him without a growl or any resistance, despite his incredible pain. His leg and scapula had to be removed due the severity of the injury so he went through major surgery and a very involved post-operation care. Jay is a wonder dog! He is healing incredibly well and has been a joy for his foster parent (aka nurse) to spend her days and nights with. He sleeps on a comfy bed on the floor next to his foster parent's and does not make a peep all night. Jay has done well with the dogs in his foster home from day one, including a puppy and three adult dogs. Jay recently had a day out on the town and enjoyed sitting outside a coffee house watching people walk by. We do not know if he has been around children, so we are looking for a home without them. And we have not witnessed how he responds to cats. Jay likes to sit on the couch next to people and be petted, and he likes to follow his person around the yard while they are gardening. He enjoys going for walks and he rides well in the car. Jay also enjoys taking naps in the sun with his dog buddies and just being part of whatever they are doing. Tripods can live normal, active lives with just a couple exceptions; no slick flooring in his home (non-skid rugs work well), and he should maintain a healthy weight to avoid adding stress to his joints. Jay will come with a harness for dog walks and an orthopedic dog bed, which he loves sleeping on (thank you foster mom!) Jay is not partial to staying in a crate, but could possibly get used to it if for short periods. Beyond the fact that Jay suffered trauma and is a survivor in so many ways, he is a typical Weimaraner who will be a joy to add to a family. Jay is current on vaccines and micro-chipped. He will be neutered prior to placement. If you are interested in adopting Jay, please fill out an APPLICATION. Jay's fee is $200.
