Tiffani is a lovely year old Heeler mix. She is the only baby left from her litter and will be missed immensely. Tiffani is initially very shy, but she truly wants to be with people, and has made amazing strides over the last few months. Tiff follows her caretaker around like a shadow, seeking her attention. She needs a home that has at least one other outgoing dog to help in her adjustment into a new home. She is very gentle, yet playful. Tiffani can be the submissive or dominant dog when playing with other dogs, but overall she is a submissive girl. She loves to play with dogs of all sizes, but might be frightened by an overly dominant large dog. She is not food aggressive. She will need basic leash and obedience training. She rides well in the car, loose or crated, and she is working very hard on her house training. She hasn't quite figured out the best way to alert her humans yet that she needs to go out so she occasionally has accidents in the house. She is just fine with cats - she absolutely loves the kitty she lives with in her foster home. A fenced-in yard is recommended but not required, just as long as she can get enough safe off-leash exercise and leash walks for her moderate energy level. Tiffani would be great in doggie daycare. She will become submissive, rather than aggressive when scared. Tiffani is playful and lovable. She has been fine around a few children at the dog park, but since she has not lived with any children, a household with no or only older, respectful, less-active children would be best, and she may need time and patience to warm up to their normal activities. We strongly recommend obedience training, as it not only helps with training and good manners but it also helps to form a lasting bond between the dog and the humans in the family. Tiffani absolutely LOVES the water so a family that has a boat, lives near the water or makes lots of trips to the beach would make her very happy!
Tiffani's history: Tiffani and her siblings were taken to a shelter when a family's Australian Cattle Dog became pregnant and the family didn't want anything to do with the pups.
Tiffani is a sweet soul, and will make a great companion for an individual or family that is willing to be kind and patient with her. If you would like to welcome Tiffani Jessica into your family, please fill out an application...we promise that you will be so glad you did!
Medical Note: Tiffani has slightly small eyes, which tend to give the appearance of being "crossed eyed." An examination here in New England has determined that she was born with cataracts in both of her eyes which does affect her vision somewhat. SOS has decided not to proceed with surgery at this time and drops are being administered to Tiffani's eyes to reduce glaucoma in the future. You are encouraged to discuss this condition with your veterinarian.
