Happy Gilmore is a purebred Boston Terrier. He is about 10 years old that weighs around 25 pounds.

Happy has the sweetest personality. He is a kisser whenever you are within reaching distance of his tongue. I really can’t say enough good things about him. He is an absolute sweetheart. Whoever adopts him will get a great dog. Happy has some separation issues. He doesn’t like to be by himself, wherever I am, he is, too.

He gets anxious when he is in a new situation. Once he gets accustomed to his new situation, he settles down. While adjusting to the change, he cries, which is a high pitched bark. We feel that part of the reason for this is that he has vision issues. The vet believes he has his vision but not complete vision. I believe he has vision but to what degree not sure. I do know he can not see black. He can not see the black crate and will run into it. I have a black front door and he has run into it multiple times.

Happy has been to a doggy eye specialist. He is officially diagnosed with Corneal Endothelial Degeneration Dystophy (edema) in both eyes. He has a salve that will keep it from getting worse. The salve is applied to both eyes twice a day. He doesn’t mind it too much since he gets a treat afterwards. The salve is to help reduce the surface edema.

He has played with both of my Bostons and grand dog. He has gotten along with them. He does not snore.

He likes to chew on bones, hard toy, and stuffed animals.

He does really good on a leash and likes riding in the car.

Happy eats Rachel Ray Nutrish right now. Along with Rachel Ray wet food or occasional Mighty Dog. He likes Milk Bone mini bones. He likes most everything, he isn’t a picky eater by any means.

He is house broken. He hasn’t had any accidents.

Happy has had a full vetting. His shots are up to date. He was neutered and micro-chipped. He was heartworm tested as well.

He does not care for the crate. It makes him upset and he cries. He sleeps in his bed next to our bed. If I get up at any time, he gets up, too. Otherwise he doesn’t move from his bed.

He has not been exposed to cats with me.

He was very acceptable of my three grandchildren under the age of 6. Even jumped on the couch to sit with the 6 year old.

The adoption fee is $225.00.

If you want to talk about me, please contact my foster family at the

Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee, Kentucky Region

Email me at: BTRETky@gmail.com and a foster momma or daddy will get back with you as soon as possible.

Keep in mind this is the general mailbox for the entire KY Region.

Please use the foster momma or dad's contact information above for questions.

The process always begins with an application which can be found at The Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee website

Note that in most cases, we do not adopt to families with small children, e.g., 'under 6,' as a precaution to the child's safety and the dog's safety. In some cases with larger Boston mixes or other dogs, we do make exceptions. Please ask the foster momma.

We prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to personally drive/fly to get the dog.  The East Coast division (NC/SC/VA/MD/DC) does have special transport capabilties for their kids.   Ask them.

Also, submission of an application and fee does not guarantee adoption of any specific Boston since that particular dog may have applications pending or may not be the right match for you.

About BTRET of Florida

About Our Rescue Group...

Our main goal is to save Boston Terriers but we also accept Boston mixes. We take owner surrenders and pull from shelters (we'll never leave one behind in a shelter to die, even if it's injured or a senior). We also take in abandoned animals and help other rescues who have saved Bostons and can't get them adopted. We treat all of our Bostons like family members and we do what we can to help the senior dogs live their lives out comfortably.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We have no physical facility, all our animals are in private foster homes throughout the state of Florida.

Our Adoption Process...

Online application which requires 3 personal references, a vet reference and all animals in the home must be spayed/neutered, UTD on vaccines and on heartworm preventative.

If these steps are all approved, then we do a home visit, have the adopter sign a contract and pay the adoption fee prior to picking up the dog from the foster home.
