Hi there!

My name is Hooch. I am a 2 year old Dogue du Bordeaux mix. I was stuck in a high kill shelter until New England Humane Society saved me. Do not be taken a back by my size! At about 80 lbs, I command everyone's attention and I LOVE it!
I really enjoy playing with other dogs my size although, I will play with just about anyone!

All New England Humane Society pets are up to date on all age appropriate shots, spayed or neutered, and micro-chipped. If you would like meet Hooch, please fill out an application on our website:

About New England Humane Society

About Our Rescue Group...

The New England Humane Society is an all breed dog rescue located in Northern Rhode Island. We have foster homes located throughout New England. We are a group of dedicated animal lovers who rescue animals from euthanasia at overcrowded county shelters and pounds, as well as abandoned animals, litters found in fields, and other homeless animals in need. NEHS’s goal is to care for these rescues until they find their forever homes, and educate the public about responsible pet care. Our animals are fully vetted and spayed or neutered. They are treated regardless of age, breed, or medical cost. NEHS receives no state funding or government assistance. We survive by the donations of caring people, fund raising, and adoption fees. Since we do not have a facility, most of our pets are kept in private foster homes in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Our Adoption Process...

Thank you for your interest in adopting a rescue! Adoption literally saves lives. When you adopt from our rescue, you enable us to pull another dog from a shelter, which saves the life of another dog and creates more space at the shelter so that new dogs can be kept longer.

The first step is to submit our online application. Please make sure it’s complete : )

If the application is approved, we will make arrangements for you to meet any dogs in your area that you may be interested in and that fit your requirements.
Once you have decided to adopt a dog, you will need to complete the adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee of $375.00 - $450.00. The adoption fee helps us to recover a portion of the expenses we routinely incur in rescue (boarding, vaccinations, worming, spay/neuter if age appropriate, and transport) so that we can continue to save other dogs. Please note that the adoption fee is nonrefundable.
