My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nala is a friendly, 7 yr old, 45 lb pit bull terrier. We were able to rescue her right before they put her down at a high kill shelter in Chicago after she was surrendered by her owners of 6yrs. The reason they gave her up was due to a child's health. She was raised with three children under 12yrs old, the youngest being a 2 yr old. Despite her "senior" age she is still as active and playful as any younger dog and in good health. Nala is good with other dogs, but not with cats. She will chase cats. She is very gentle when taking treats, has shown no toy or food aggression and walks very well on a harness. Nala loves to play fetch outside. She is crate trained and finds comfort being inside one. She could keep up with an active household as long as they will be her forever home. She is a very tolerant, patient dog. For example when we took her to the vet they needed to examine her tail which was covered with tape, but she was so happy wagging it that the vet had to have a tech hold her still. Despite all the discomfort, new surroundings, strange people pulling on her injured tail, she did not even once show any aggression towards the staff. Most dogs, regardless of breed would have tried to bite a stranger who caused them discomfort. The most Nala did was try to wiggle herself out of their arms. Her tail was injured from continually hitting against a hard surface. Most likely her kennel at the shelter, but it should heal up now that she has freedom of movement. She is pretty good at not jumping on people, but she is still a strong dog and she could accidentally knock a small child down. Nala is spayed and up to date with her vaccinations. If you would like to meet Nala please contact Teresa @ 630-815-1440. Her adoption fee is $200.
