Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.

Boo and Jake's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, and good with dogs.

Boo and Jake's Story...
Boo and Jake are courtesy listings for their owner who can no longer keep them but wants to find a home that will adopt them both. A courtesy listing means that the dogs are not if our program so you need to contact the owner directly at vergatt@yahoo.com for more information. Boo and Jake are already neutered.

The boys are almost 2 years old and still have quite a bit of puppy in them. Both dogs are current on their vaccinations and have been neutered.
They love going for long long walks. They love to wrestle with each other and with their “sister” Cassie. Even though they are 3x her size they are terrified of their other “sister” Noiree.

The reason that we are looking for a new home for them is that my wife and were recently hospitalized and are not physically able to tend to their needs.
The boys are very active and need a lot of room to run and play. They love people and
are very friendly to everyone they have met so far.

They get along with most other dogs. They both want to play with cats and squirrels but we have stopped them from chasing both many times.

Both dogs are crate trained and house trained, but they do have the occasional accident. The vet thinks this is due to the time they spent in the shelter since they were so young when they were there. They know the basic commands of Come, sit, stay, drop, and down. Jake still pulls when he on the leash but that is because he loves to explore. They eat the Purina sensitive stomach for adult dogs, mainly because that is what the older dogs eat.

Boo is the larger of the two, he is the one with the rough coat and long hair on the tail. He loves to play “toss and fetch” and will play that for hours. He can catch balls or pretty much anything you throw in mid air and literally has a vertical leap of almost 6 feet. He has actually done flips in mid air.

Jake has the smooth coat and is the smaller of the two. He also loves to chase the ball but not as much as Boo does. He will fetch but does not bring it all the way back to you. He loves to cuddle. His second favorite thing in the world is to climb on the back of furniture and stare out the window. He is also an escape artist. He has to be in a plastic crate because he can escape from the collapsible wire kind very easily. He can do a running jump over a three and a half foot wall or baby gate.

We think they would do very well in a house with older children, since they still don’t seem to know their own strength. They would also do well in a house with a large fenced yard where they could run.

They come with their leashes, supper bowls, several toys including the green ball that Boo loves to catch. They have Christmas stockings and the stocking hangers that go on the mantle with their pictures.

We would want to see them adopted together since they are so bonded.
These are two of the happiest dogs I have ever met and if it were not for my wife’s and my health issues we would be keeping them.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Boo and Jake, a Staunton Labrador Retriever/Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Golden Retriever for sale in Staunton, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Staunton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Staunton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Staunton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Golden Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Staunton paves the way for another one to be saved.
