This sweet and silly boy is Rufus, a 4 year old St. Bernard/mix that is dreaming of cuddling up next to you on the couch every night, pretending he's a lap dog. Rufus came to us from our Newark facility after he was found as a stray. How on earth someone could lose this smiling darling is beyond us, but he's ready to meet his new family that will keep him safe and never let him go again. Rufus is not huge like a St. Bernard, but has the temperament of an oafy and mellow dog that would rather sit beside you and get some attention than do just about anything else. Rufus is mellow and well behaved, and he sits perfectly when asked. He walks very well on a leash too and is very gentle while taking treats and his dinner. Rufus enjoys tossing around some toys in our exercise yard and loves running a few laps too but still would rather just climb on your lap and take a nap. Rufus likes some dogs but not all so if you have a dog, bring them in to meet him and we'll see how it goes. Rufus just adores people and would make a wonderful addition to any loving family.
