What is my personality like? Gizmo has come a long way since he first came to us. He was a "touch-me-not" but is now a love bug with the people that he knows. He is seeking a female only home as he does not trust men.
It will take Gizmo at least a week to start trusting someone, but that is a risk someone will have to take if they want a great dog out of him. He is wonderful once he gets to know you! Gizmo is up for anything and loves to go everywhere with you.
He gets along great with other dogs, and should be adopted by someone with another pet. He ignores cats so could go to a home with a cat. He will follow their lead and realize that you are not going to hurt him! I do not think he will budge for a male owner, however.
Caregiver update 2/21/2017-
" Gizmo has a wonderful personality.
I didn't see any bad behavior issues,
other that he occasionally wanted to tug
on the leash. He just wanted to see and smell
a whole lot of newness.
From our time together, I found Gizmo to be an intelligent boy. He has a plan. When he wanted
a cookie, he found a way to get to his goal.
It didn't involve begging, whining or jumping
up on the " source" of the cookie.
While in Jessies office, he developed
a plan:couch to table to Jessies desktop
brought him closer to his goal.
He is not a whiner. He is resourceful.
He wasn't into a cat or too much socializing
with admin office dogs. He wasn't rude to
the feline and the canine friends, but he had his own agenda.
Can I tell you what will make his forever home?
No, but I can say he's a guy with an upbeat
attitude. He's curious, smart and loving.
When we visited the car, he got in my lap.
I reclined the seat and he seemed to feel
this was a great time to lay himself across
myself. Hmm...I think somewhere in his past,
he was a great cuddle baby.
I have often considered him self reliant.
But I loved doting on Gizmo. I think he loved
PS. He is very photogenic."
Who I am seeking: Gizmo is seeking a female-only home, and this is not debatable. Absolutely no children. He loves to go for walks and follow you around step for step.

Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them!
How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.
To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.
Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
