Meet Calvin Harris.

Calvin is a very lucky boy. He was picked up by a kind family in Memphis TN after they saw him get hit three times by various cars.

He has been living with this amazing family since January 2016. While they love him dearly and he gets along great with their female k9's in the household, he does not do well with their males so they are forced to keep the boys separated.

Like every rescue dog, Calvin wants his own family! Calvin would be perfect for an active home. He is an acrobatic catcher at fetch and enjoys outdoor playtime. Since Calvin is an alpha male, he prefers the company of the ladies! He plays beautifully with the female k9's in his foster home pack (none of which are alphas), including another pit mix. He does not like to be challenged by male dogs and will need a home with females only, preferably around his own size so they can be equally matched at play.

Calvin is a super sweet dog who has probably seen a good bit of ugliness in his short life. He does have some scarring between his shoulder blades. All this boy wants is to be your shadow and play fetch with you. Calvin is potty and crate trained. He knows the commands, 'sit,' 'stay,' and 'come.'

Calvin rides well in the car and behaves nicely at the vet's office. His indoor house manners are terrific! He particularly loves to follow his people around everywhere. Calvin has great potential to be in an unfenced yard because he does not wander off. He likes to stay close to his person. Calvin is very comfortable with people and has never shown any fear or aggression toward anyone, male or female.

He barks when someone comes to the door, but greets them nicely. Calvin's foster loves him and wants whoever adopts him to be sensitive to his probable background and his need for continued positive socialization. He's a great dog and would love to show you that!

About Our Rescue Group...

PAWS is comprised of a small group of volunteers from New England and Tennessee trying to reduce the euthanization rate (previously 90%) at the Tipton County Animal Control shelter in Brighton, Tennessee. This shelter is forced to euthanize thousands of animals each year due to irresponsible pet owners that do not spay/ neuter their dogs in the area. Millions of dogs in America are euthanized each year due to lack of space and lack of funding to try and find them better homes.

Our mission is to save as many animals as possible, removing them from the shelter, having their veterinary needs met prior to traveling and then finding them loving homes throughout New England. We do this only with the assistance of many people volunteering their time by going to the shelter, transporting the dogs to the vet, fostering dogs who need special care, and arranging for their new and happy homes in this area. Most importantly, we cannot do any of this without those people willing to open their homes and hearts to these lovely creatures.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our dogs are located either in foster homes in New England or Tennessee/Missouri. Please email our volunteers to ask about the specific pet that you are interested in.
