Riley's Story...
Riley was posted on RescueMe.org as “in danger”. The person who posted her was watching Riley for a friend while she was out of town, but was then notified that the person had moved out of state and was not coming back for Riley. The woman’s landlord was somewhat sympathetic, giving her a month to find a placement. But she could not find any openings in a no-kill shelter. Riley was transported from the IKEA parking lot in Bolingbrook, IL, to the Geneseo shelter on April 20 by a Humane Society Board Member. She loved riding in the car, and was a very sweet traveling companion. Riley is overweight but with lots of walks and a strict diet she should be back to a healthy weight before long. To meet Riley come out to the Geneseo Humane Society any day between 4-6 pm. She will make a great furry friend!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Riley, a Geneseo Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle for sale in Geneseo, or seeking a Beagle dog from a breeder in Geneseo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Geneseo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Geneseo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle breeders who help with Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Geneseo paves the way for another one to be saved.
