My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gracie is a 5 year old Aussie/Border Collie mix. Sadly, she was surrendered to a shelter in North Carolina after her owner died. She had a tough time in the shelter although she always behaved well. The shelter staff loved her sweet disposition, but they could tell that she was frustrated and unhappy. Thankfully, they contacted PRBCR for help with Gracie.

Gracie needs a home with a physical fenced yard.

Gracie is housebroken and recently learned how to use a pet door. She is a friendly dog and loves attention! She gets along with most other dogs and even seems to tolerate cats. In addition, she has had the opportunity to interact with a few children and has done fine. While many dogs enjoy crates and dog beds, Gracie seems to prefer being on a chair or on the couch with her human companions. Spending time with her owner seems to be high on her list of priorities! If given the choice, Gracie will also climb into bed with her family members. We suspect that the original owner of this sweet girl thoroughly pampered her!

Gracie actually enjoys being on a leash, and in fact, comes running when a leash is taken out to go for a walk.

She plays with toys and also enjoys running around a fenced yard. She claims ownership of items quickly, like toys, and at times she is willing to share. At other times, she is a little bit more possessive.

Traveling in cars is one of her favorite activities, and surprisingly, Gracie curls up nicely on the seat and lays down or sits quietly throughout the trip. And if someone sits next to her and pets her along the way, that is even better!

Gracie will need an active home, but she does not need constant activity. She will probably follow her owners around the house throughout the day, but she will do it in her own sweet way! Gracie is like a constantly smiling person--perpetually happy and easy to hang with.

Gracie is the type of dog who will blend nicely with lots of families!

Our adoption fee is $225.00, we do a home visit, and would need a satisfactory vet reference. Please visit the website at www.prbcr.org
