Sydney writes...

I am a very friendly pup and love to play with other dogs and people. I know how to sit, stay, lay down, drop toys, and shake paws. I also know I did something bad when you tell me “No”, then I quickly settle down. I’d like to run free in a fenced yard, but I can jump over a 5-foot fence. Good thing I am good on a leash and love to go for walks, too!

I love having all the attention, but I will get used to sharing it with another equally friendly dog. Cats are very interesting to me, but they usually are not comfortable around me because I get so curious; I don’t want to hurt them, just want to play! When it’s TV time, I love to snuggle up on the couch and watch what you’re watching, but look out… I may give you a few kisses! I like to be wherever you are in the house because I love having company. I am usually a quiet dog, but I give a couple barks of excitement when I hear somebody at the door.

If you are interested in Sydney, consider letting us know by filling out a (no obligation) adoption application (http://www.pgspca.org/adopt/online-adoption-application/).

Sydney is expecting to attend the next adoption show, May 14th at the Calverton PetSmart, although there's always a possibility that plans will need to change at the last minute.

We are an all volunteer group and do not operate a shelter. All of our animals are in foster homes. We are unable to place our animals outside of the Baltimore/DC area.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Adopted! Sydney, a Bowie Labrador Retriever/Mastiff dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Mastiff for sale in Bowie, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Mastiff dog from a breeder in Bowie.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bowie already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bowie breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Mastiff breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Mastiff rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bowie paves the way for another one to be saved.
