Facts about Happy

  • Breed: Border Collie/Australian Shepherd Mix
  • Color: White - With Black
  • Age: Senior
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: 0578
Backstory: Happy and his life long companion, a Beagle, both seniors were dumped at a shelter in LA county by their owners. A rescue came and took the Beagle, leaving Happy behind. We were told of this story and rescued him.

Happy has been in foster care for 3 months and he still has moments where he looks very sad, still missing his best friend. Happy is great with humans and other dogs. he is NOT good with cats or small farm animals.

Happy is a very affectionate and loving boy............unless you tell him to do something. He was apparently the alpha in his last home and took orders from nobody. His current foster has made progress with him but feels somebody more assertive would be the best thing for him. We do have a trainer avaiable by phone to help with this issue, which is very fixable with a confident human alpha.

When we first got Happy, he was so filthy and matted that he had to be shaved down (as in the 3rd photo) He is a senior boy that deserves a warm bed and a loving home to spend his golden years.

If you are interested in this boy, please fill out our adoption application:

Happy's adoption fee is 150 and all fees are used for future rescue efforts.

About Australian Shepherds Furever - San Bernardino, California Chapter

About Our Rescue Group...

Nancy Gonzalez, founder and CEO, created Australian Shepherds Furever (ASF), a non-profit organization to promote the educated adoption and rescue of the Australian Shepherd (Aussie) dog breed.

In July of 2012, ASF initiated as a Facebook page hoping to have 1,000 user "likes" by the end one year. The page quickly outgrew expectations, now with a network of nearly 27,000 individuals striving to provide aid and refuge to Aussies all over the country.

Using the Facebook page as a platform, the website www.australianshepherdsfurever.org was developed as an additional resource aimed at educating the public on this intelligent and beautiful breed. It provides resources for those seeking help, or those willing to contribute to the Adopt, Save, Foster (ASF) philosophy. Through this philosophy, ASF has saved the lives of countless dogs and helped to provide assistance to those that have nowhere else to turn.

We as humans have a responsibility to speak up and take action in favor of those beings that are less fortunate. Thanks to a team of passionate and proactive volunteers, Aussies nationwide are given a chance at a better life through Australian Shepherds Furever.

Come Meet Our Pets...

As we are a national rescue, adoption events will be posted as they are scheduled with specific information on location etc.
