Dallas will play ball or fetch for as long as you will play with him! He loves walks and might be a good running partner. He is very fast! He likes to explore but is not reliable on recall so he needs to be on a leash or long lead. He would LOVE a large fenced-in yard in a more rural setting where other dogs and people are not going by all the time.
Dallas responds very well to good leadership and learned quickly as a young dog with his basic commands. He is proficient with sit, lay down, paw, stay, and speak. He is very food and praise-motivated. He doesn’t use a crate at home and he does not like it at all so he hasn’t used one in years.
Dallas LOVES car rides but does not like being alone. He has some mild separation anxiety but does not destroy things. Dallas wants to be with his adult humans and if he is outside without them he will bark.
Dallas lives with three cats but has not lived with dogs. Dallas’ family says he does well with other dogs but he can be unpredictable in his reactions so he may be happiest as an “only child”. He is sweet and loving, and will sit with his grown-ups, being petted, snuggled and wanting to be wherever they are.
One of our volunteers recently met Dallas and had a great visit. He showed her that he knows some commands, rolled over for belly rubs, and was affectionate and cuddly. His tail didn’t stop wagging; he did chase the cats when she was there.
