Hi My name is Ellie. I am a sweet, healthy 7-year-old lab/beagle mix. I’m short and stocky at 46 pounds, and Iam a great size for any apartment or house. My owner passed away and I’m now looking for a loving forever home. I am housebroken, crate trained, and laid back. I can be very shy/timid at first but I absolutely love to be pet and have my belly rubbed. It takes me a little bit to warm up to strangers and other animals. When I am overwhelmed or scared, sometimes I snap. However, I am a very loving and loyal companion once you gain my trust. I don’t jump on the furniture. I am afraid of loud noises (thunder, fire works, gun shots, etc.) and quick/sudden movements. I am used to being the only dog, but I play well with small dogs and dogs that are submissive. I don’t care too much for high-energy dogs. I do much better with people and animals that don’t overwhelm me and let me come to them on my own. I like to play chase and wrestle with my foster sister. I love being outside and sniffing around. I do great being left out in the house or crated while my humans are away. I do excellent riding in cars too (I get in and out of the car on my own). The only kid I’ve been around was my owner’s granddaughter, who is around 3 years old, and I let her love and hug on me. However, I would probably be more comfortable around kids who are quiet, older, and have experience with dogs. I do not do well at the vet. I don’t like for the vet or vet techs to touch me and check me over and must be sedated heavily in order to have a check-up at the vet. I did well getting a bath and enjoyed when my foster parents brushed me. Ultimately, if you have patience to earn my trust and give me attention, pet me, and rub my belly, I will love you forever.
