Boon is a loving, social kitty who just wants to hang out with her people. She is the easiest kitty you could ever have – she is flawless with her litterbox, eats quickly and on a schedule, and uses her scratch pad like she was born to it.

She is a smart girl and a quick learner, and great about not getting up on tables or counters.
Boon is about 4 years old and is in excellent health. Her fur is bunny-soft with some amazing markings. As you can see, she likes to sit like a human.
We have been fostering Boon for several months. She loves to sit on laps and receive pets, or just sit near you and hang out. Boon greets us at the door with leg rubs every time we come home.
She is a wonderfully sweet cat with humans, but it has become obvious that she would be much happier in an adult home where she could be the only cat.

Boon is very easy-going with people, but she does have anxiety issues with other cats. She really wants a home where she can relax, and doesn’t have to be in fear of other pets or children.

About Animal Welfare League-Montgomery County

About Our Shelter...

As many of you may already know, we have a mission: To enhance the lives of Montgomery County Maryland residents and animals through programs directed at education, adoption, animal shelter, and low cost spay/neuter. The AWLMC is committed to ending the euthanasia of adoptable animals in Montgomery County Maryland. With this in mind, we are partnering with the county shelter to help save the most at-risk animals. Currently, we are only working with cats. We hope to be able to add a dog program soon.

In order to save as many cats as possible, we have opened a no-kill shelter in Gaithersburg. We need your help in the form of direct financial donations and by volunteering your time. Our organization is strong and full of highly dedicated volunteers of all ages, backgrounds, professions and abilities. We are working together to save the lives of cats and kittens, to find them loving, forever homes and to have them spay/neutered. All of our cats and kittens are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.

We are the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County.

Our Adoption Process...

All members of the adopter's household should be present at the adoption.

For all adopters who rent their home, we must see a copy of the adopter's lease or rental agreement showing that pets are allowed.

Current adoption fees: $75 for adults (cats over 1 year old) and kittens.
All of our cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. We currently accept only check or cash.

Potential adopters are required to fill out an application and to be interviewed by an AWLMC adoption counselor.

We can request home visits or vet checks prior to approving anyone for adoption.

Upon approval, the adopter must sign an adoption contract.

Adopters must have proof of ID (a driver's license or other government issued identification).

We will follow up on our adoptions which can include e-mails, phone calls, home visits, and vet checks.

These rules are subject to change.

If you have any questions regarding our adoption policies, please contact us at adopt@awlmc.org
