My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE 10-29-08: Bachee is currently 8 months old and weighs 3-1/2#. It's likely that he will never get any bigger. He is being fostered in The Villages, FL. He has done remarkable since he had two (2) previous balloon endoscopies to correct his congenital rectal stricture and is running around and playing like any other 8 month-old puppy - isn't that wonderful? He is a little character and likes to think that he runs the household - NOT! He can run like the wind and will pick up just about anything that is on the floor and not glued down - a typical yorkie puppy.........

Bachee's perfect home would be one with another little pup close to his size and age since he loves to play, play, play! PLEASE NOTE: Because of his small size, Bachee can only be adopted into an adult home. If you have children, please don't apply for Bachee.

Foster Mom told me to tell you that my 'medical issues' are 'behind me' - no pun intended - but that's kinda funny, huh?? Anyway, she said that I was born with something called a congenital rectal stricture which made it really hard for me to eliminate properly. I had two endoscopic balloon procedures to dilate my rectum and make things easier for me (OUCH!). She said that the vets don't think I will need any more of those silly ballooning procedures cuz I'm doing so much better. But I will need to be on Lactulose (to soften my stools) for the rest of my life - geesh, it's kinda embarrassing to talk about this kinda stuff! I am being fostered in The Villages, Florida. FM keeps kissing me and telling me that I am a very sweet and lovable little yorkie puppy boy – I just love to run around the house playing with toys and asking all the other pups to play with me. I'm only 6 months old now and weigh only 3#, and am being fostered in The Villages, Florida. I hafta be adopted into a home with another little pup close to my size and age cuz I love to play, play, play! Foster Mom said to tell you that I can't be adopted into a home with those two-legged kids - so don't even apply if you have 'em. Come on now - aren't I cute? Wouldn't you like to take me home?

UPDATED BIO 08-18-08: Bachee has had two endoscopy ballooning procedures thus far in the hopes of opening up his rectal stricture. He has tolerated the procedures thus far, but the vet specialists thinks he may need a 3rd procedure to obtain optimum results. He has done well under anesthesia for both procedures, but that's a lot to put a little 2# yorkie boy through. Bachee's appetite has improved significantly, but mostly it's because of the prednisone he is taking to minimize the inflammation in the surgical area. He still must take Lactulose 2x a day to soften his stools and Nutrical every 4 hours so that his blood sugar doesn't drop suddenly.

In addition, its possible that Bachee also has a perinenal hernia which may require another surgery, although this surgery is extremely risky. Because Bachee's surgical procedures require the extensive knowledge of a specialist, his vet bills are currently $2,174.79; UYR is hoping that we can raise the money for these vet bills so that we can continue to help little Bachee live a normal, happy and pain-free life. Please say a little prayer for Bachee, who is fighting so hard to feel better.

UPDATE: 08-01-08: WE HAVE RECEIVED $210.00 TOWARDS BACHEE'S SPECIAL CARE NEEDS!! THANK YOU!!!

UPDATE 07-31-08 Bachee is tolerating the meds and low-residue diet; however, he is not gaining weight as he should be doing. The vet recommended because of his tiny size that we also supplement Nutri-Cal 4x a day in addition to his 4x a day meals. He is feeling better, but still having trouble eliminating............say some prayers for this little man, please.

UPDATED BIO 07/10/08: Bachee has seen the vet, and he may have a stricture that is obstructing the elimination of wastes. He has been put on Lactulose and a special low-residue diet to help with this. We are hopeful that we can avoid surgery on this tiny little guy. Please stay tuned for more updates................

Original Bio 07/04/08: Bachee is a tiny little yorkie boy, but may potentially have a big medical problem. Bachee is 4 months old and only weighs 2#. Since birth, he has had a difficult time eliminating his wastes, and his previous owner wasn't able to afford the extensive testing needed to determine exactly what the problem may be.....which is why he was surrendered to UYR. He is a typical little yorkie puppy, and is very curious about his surroundings. He runs and plays but seems to tire easily. Bachee will not be available for adoption until further testing is done to determine what is needed to rectify his medical situation. This testing will be expensive and it is hopeful that UYR can raise the funds so that we can help this little boy have a normal life........
