Facts about Harley

  • Breed: Beagle Mix
  • Color: Gray/Blue/Silver/Salt & Pepper
  • Age: Senior
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Male
11/2016 -- The more time I spend with Harley, the more I love him. Very sweet dog. Takes his biscuits nicely, loves to wander around in the yard and take walks and will howl and bay when he finds some rabbit poop or the scent of a rabbit or animal. Maybe he was someone's hunting partner at one time. He loves to curl up in a dog bed and nap and no potty training issues. A typical Beagle, he loves food. He has some fatty tumors but a recent visit to the vet with xrays concludes they are not cancerous.

5/2016 -- 12 yr old Harley has just arrived from a rescue in Kentucky and will be available for adoption in June 2016 so we have time to get to know him before placing him. He has fit right in with his pack and is enjoying the Sanctuary. Harley is very sweet and snuggly. He was in a foster home for a while and is already familiar with a normal home life and should transition to a new home with no problem. He would love a home with a nice yard to explore and owners to take him for walks as well. Call Barbara at 570-579-8172 or email info@mureillesplace.org if you are interested in adopting Harley.

About Mureille's Place - A Senior Dog Sanctuary

About Our Rescue Group...

Mureille’s Place is a small home-based 501c3 rescue. We are a cage-free no-kill facility that provides a safe haven for unwanted senior dogs until they can be adopted into a forever home or if unadoptable, live out their remaining days with love, dignity and respect. The sanctuary is located on 7 wooded acres that include several walking trails that the dogs enjoy year round. We are very proud that we are an all volunteer rescue and do not have any paid staff or board members and that all tax deductible donations go to the rescue operation.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Visits to the shelter are by appointment only. Please call Barbara at 570-579-8172 to arrange.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process includes a pre-adoption interview to determine the type of home you will provide and will aid us in finding the right dog for you. We prefer that the dog do a “weekend” visit or longer before adopting to ensure that both the adopter and the dog are sure that it is a good match. There is an application to be filled out, a home visit and adoption donation typically from $50 - $150 (non-refundable). All dogs are spayed or neutered and are up to date on all shots.

We have also launched our "Seniors for Seniors" program where we do not charge a fee at all to qualifying senior citizens who adopt one of our seniors.

We are also working on a program that would allow a senior to adopt one of our seniors and we would take care of food, vet visits etc and be a place for the dog to come back to if the adopter had health issues and needed to be hospitalized or worse, passed away and there were no family members to take the dog in. This would greatly benefit seniors on a fixed income who want to own a dog but can't provide for them or are afraid that they will not outlive the dog. We are searching for funding for this program and will launch it as soon as that funding is found.
