Jessicat (female) special-needs (DECLAWED)

Intake date:  5/5/16

Breed:  Domestic long-haired

Age:  1-2 years old

Adoption fee:  $75 (which includes microchip enrollment fee)

Good with other cats/dogs:  yes

Vetting:  altered (spayed/neutered), UTD on shots, FIV/FeLV negative

Health issues:  none

Intake reason:   Jessicat’s owner died.  She and four other cats lived in an outdoor building.  We believe the owner could not properly care for them later in life as they were covered in fleas, had missing fur, ear mites and sores from scratching.  Jessicat was nearly feral when she came to us.  We kept her kenneled and every day would pet her and talk to her.  She now loves to be petted and actually gives little nibbles as you do it.  We’ve left the kennel door open a few times so she can come out, but she pretty much hides when we do so we typically get her and put her back in the kennel, which by the way is a two story ferret kennel so she does have plenty of room.  She does not want to be picked up!  We have to grab her by the scruff to put her back in the kennel... but again... she loves to be petted.  She will roll on her back for belly rubs.  We suspect that her owner probably took her in as a stray; had her vetted but didn’t spend a lot of time trying to socialize her.  She’s a stunning cat with the BIGGEST eyes we’ve ever seen and we know that someone out there would love to work with her... we just need to find that one home.  What we find interesting is that she was kept in an outdoor building so we’re not sure why she was declawed.  It’s possible she lived in the home and then all the cats were moved to the outdoor building at some point.  We just don’t know.   All the volunteers have grown to love her so much because she’s come so far since coming to us.

Others notes:   Only adopters with a responsible cat ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply.   If you bring this pet into your heart and home, you will receive in return many years of love, companionship, and loyalty.  That’s our guarantee.   Keep in mind BEFORE APPLYING that a cat’s lifespan is 15-20 years… sometimes even longer!   If you cannot provide a FOREVER home, please do not apply!
