My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Rosie and I am a very handsome Umbrella Cockatoo in perfect feather condition. I came into the Rescue because my owner passed away. I am about 12 years old and the vet told me that I am actually a male.

I am a great eater and I take foods from your hand very gently. I am on a healthy diet of Zupreem pellets and I love fruits and veggies, especially bananas, carrots, and broccoli.

I make very cute squeaks and squawks, but I haven't said any words yet. . I am very shy, but I am warming up to my foster mom and dad. My foster mom says that I am much quieter than her other Umbrella Cockatoo but I am still not a good candidate for apartment or condo living. She also says that I am just an all around sweet bird! I don't mind my foster brothers and sister that include another cockatoo and two dogs. Even the horses outside the window don't scare me! I used to live on a lanai and I love looking out the window. I will step up for my foster family as long as I'm away from my cage, but I also like to hang out on top of my cage while they sit near me.

My foster mom and I both think that Rosie is a silly name for a boy. I don't really seem to recognize the name as belonging to me. My foster mom sometimes calls me Reggie, or something that kind of sounds like Rosie. I am hoping that my new forever family will change my name to something more suited to a handsome, young, MALE, cockatoo such as myself after they adopt me! Maybe you would like to come meet me, give me a forever home AND a new name? I would sure like to meet you! Meantime, would you like to send me a "Welcome to Rescue" gift? Boy would I appreciate it! Thank you!
