To adopt, the very first step is to fill out an application found on our website, where you can also read about our adoption process:

Harley is a 3-4 yr old chihuahua who came to us from a shelter. He weighs in at 5lbs currently. He will not be adopted out to a family with small children, due to his petite size.

Harley is a special needs dog. He will require lifelong medication to control his seizure disorder. If you are interested in Harley, please fill out an application on our website and we will contact you to set up a meet and greet.

We provide as much information on each animal's history, disposition and health as we can gather. Most of our dogs are from shelters and are strays, therfore we may not have any information at all on them, or what breed they are.

We strongly believe that honesty is the best policy. We want each of our animals to find the RIGHT home, not just ANY home. Likewise, we want you to find the pet who best matches your lifestyle and interests.

You will first be required to complete our adoption application. Once received, a WT rep will contact you via phone or e-mail. If it seems you are a good fit for each other based on the info you provided, a phone interview will follow. If you are renting, we require proof that you are allowed to have a pet as well as any breed or size restrictions that may exist. If you have pets or did previously, we require your vet information and we will call them to verify that your pets are in good health, current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. We require that all pets in the home be spayed/neutered unless there are health reasons that can be verified with the vet. The final step is a home visit, where an WT volunteer comes to your home to verify your home is a safe place for an animal. It is also a time where the volunteer can answer questions and discuss safety precautions.

In our Adoption Agreement, we require that every animal be spayed/neutered prior to adoption this means every dog that is adopted from us will be spayed/neutered prior to going to a forever home. This is VERY important as the overpopulation of dogs and cats in our country is a sad result of too many unplanned litters!

If for any reason the match is not as perfect as we all had hoped, the dog or cat must be returned to Wooftown, not given away or turned in to a shelter. Serious fines apply to violators of the Wooftown Agreement to Adopt. So be clear about what you are signing and be prepared to abide by the contract. It is legally binding and we take it very seriously.

About Wooftown Rescue Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Wooftown Rescue Inc. is a 501c3 non profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue dogs that otherwise would've been euthanized or abandoned and provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes.

Our Adoption Process...

To ensure that Wooftown Rescue animals and adopters are properly matched, we have a few adoption guidelines.

Each potential adopter will complete an adoption application that will be reviewed by an adoption counselor.

Once an adoption application is filled out and approved, a visit will be set up with the applicant and the dog they're interested in.

If all goes well with the initial meet and greet, then a home visit will be scheduled and a vet reference will be checked.

If the applicants pass the home visit and vet reference and seem like a good match, the adoption will be finalized!

All dogs adopted through Wooftown Rescue Inc. will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested (if over 6 months), microchipped and flea treated prior to adoption.

They will also receive a free day of doggy daycare at Wooftown Doggy Daycare

If you are interested in meeting one of our adoptable pets, please read through our adoption process and fill out an adoption application, once we have received your application we will respond to you by email within 24 hours. Our adoption application can be found here:
OUR ADOPTION FEE IS $250 unless otherwise noted.
We do not adopt out on a first come, first serve basis. Our determination for adoption is based on the best fit for the dog and adoptive family!
