Momma is an active and friendly dog. She came to the rescue pregnant and gave birth to a litter of 9 puppies on 4/8/14. She was a wonderful mother, but now she is spayed. Momma currently lives at the farm with 2 of her children, Sunshine and Spot. She loves people and being outside. However, her feedings need to be supervised since she will steal food from others. She has a permanent injury to one of her wrists. She will limp after long walks, but this does not stop her! She'll run around and play outside all day, if you let her! That said, she's also quite happy to receive human attention and she's eager to please. Momma would make a great family dog!

We are a small rescue in rural MO. We're so glad to be on adopt-a-pet now so they more people can get a look at this wonderful lady! She desperately deserves a loving home.

About Hootie's Rescue Haven

About Our Shelter...

Hootie’s Rescue Haven was founded by our veterinarian (Kim) and her husband (Tim) in memory of Kim's rescue dog, Hootie. We are a non-profit rescue for pets in need of medical care and forever homes. We are the only no-kill animal shelter in Franklin County. Animals come to our 40-acre farm from all walks of life; we provide each of them with unconditional love, safe and comfortable living quarters, plenty of time outdoors for walks and playing, the highest quality food, and the best medical care possible. Unless otherwise noted, all of the furry kids in our care live at the rescue, which is conveniently located in Kim and Tim's home (on the farm).

We are also an animal sanctuary. We currently have 12 dogs, 11 cats, 3 horses, a pony, a rabbit, 18 chickens, and 3 roosters living full-time at our facility. Due to their individual history, temperament, and/or a continuing need for extensive medical care, these animals will live out their lives with us. In addition, we provide a respite for many animals as they are rehabbing on their way to a forever home. (We currently have 3 dogs in this phase of their journey.) Finally, we always have pets in need of forever homes. These numbers vary from day-to-day.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We always love visitors and volunteers. The farm is up-and-running 24/7, 365. Because this is our home, we ask that people call Tim (314-766-8336), before coming out. That said, we are always here, busy, and happy to have help!

We periodically have adoption days, when we bring animals in to the city (generally St. Louis) to meet potential forever parents. We post these events on our Facebook page.

Our Adoption Process...

If you are interested in adopting an animal from us, you should note the following:
• We require a home visit before we place any animal
• All animals must be indoor pets
• Dogs must have a fenced-in yard or a comparable secure outdoor area
• There are no adoption fees (donations are welcome)
• We are here to support you for the lifetime of your pet(s)
• If you are no longer able to care for your animal for ANY REASON at ANY TIME during his/her lifetime, we ask you return them to us for care and/or re-homing. We require our forever parent(s) to sign a contract, to that affect.

All of our animals have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, and are up-to-date on vaccines. Puppies/kittens may go to a forever home before they're old enough to be neutered or chipped. In these cases, we require the forever parent(s) to sign a spay/neuter contract; we will cover the cost of the procedure(s) and any shots needed within the first year, at the appropriate time(s).
