Hitch's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Hitch's Story...
Hitch was surrendered by an owner who was recovering from a drug problem and had been living in her car with him. We're not sure what his life was like before living in that car, but he is an incredibly laid back, well mannered dog. He is very reliably housetrained and knows basic commands. He didn't seem interested in the cats he saw while on leash and he does very well with children. He is dog friendly, but he does seem to have some issues with food guarding with other dogs, so he should only go to a home with a dog with no resource guarding issues. He would also do fine as an only dog.
Hitch had several small masses when he came to us. One turned out to be a mast cell tumor, but it was thankfully low grade and was completely excised, so he is now healthy and ready for adoption.
Hitch is missing a toe on one foot, he has a crooked face (one lip droops lower than the other), he drools, he has a scar on his head from where his mass was removed...he's quite the conversation starter! But he's a laid back, well behaved boy who loves to go for walks. He does not like crates at all, but thankfully is fine left loose in the house. Hitch has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm tested (negative and on prevention).

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Hitch, a Richmond Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boxer for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Boxer dog from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boxer breeders who help with Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
