Chewie's Story...
Hello! My name is Chewie and I’m about 5 years old. I am a shy, reserved gal with a friendly disposition! I arrived as a stray in early January 2016 and tested positive for FIV. FIV is NOT as scary as it sounds, so please let me explain. FIV is kind of like human’s HIV. It is a virus that depletes the number of white blood cells, which makes harder for me to be able to fight off infection/sickness. FIV cannot be passed from cat to person, but there is a slim possibility I could infect another cat. FIV is most commonly spread through deep bite wounds and not easily passed otherwise. Just as a precaution, I am searching for a home where I can be spoiled rotten… I mean a home where I can be the only cat. If I am the only cat in the home, there is no chance I could infect another cat, and there would be no other cats in contact with me to compromise my fragile immune system. Please research FIV and discuss any concerns with your veterinarian before deciding to adopt me.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chewie, a Menomonie Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Menomonie, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Menomonie.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Menomonie already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Menomonie breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Menomonie paves the way for another one to be saved.
