Tank's Story...
Hi, my name is Tank. I am very lucky because when I was lost and walking the streets, a nice lady picked me up and took me to Helping Strays. I was very thin and depressed. Helping Strays has been taking great care of me and I have gained weight, met lots of people, been to several adoption events, and now love life. I am a happy guy, good with other dogs, and love everyone I meet. I do like children but older children would be best for me because of my high energy level; a family with older kids and a nice big yard would be perfect. I recently completed the Puppies for Parole program and have learned basic obedience.

Tank's adoption fee is $175; he is microchipped, neutered, and up to date on vaccines. Some of our pets are in foster care. If you are interested in a specific pet, please contact the shelter at (618) 939-7389 to arrange a meeting.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tank, a Columbia Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Boxer for sale in Columbia, or seeking a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Boxer dog from a breeder in Columbia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Columbia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Columbia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Boxer breeders who help with Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Columbia paves the way for another one to be saved.
