Penny's Pups's Story...
Meet the most adorable St. Bernard mix pups in Kansas City! Sadie, Sophie, Sally, Sammi, Bailey, Bernie, Beasley and Beanie Weenie were born on July 8 at the Lee's Summit Animal Shelter to Penny, a gorgeous St. Bernard mother. From their looks, dad might have been a Border Collie?! Anyone's guess is a good guess! The entire family has been in a foster home since July 10, getting stronger, bigger, fluffier, and cuter with each day! They appear to be good-natured, playful, and learning good pack social skills. It is most likely that these little tykes will grow to be large like their mother, but also seem to have her easy-going demeanor with people.

Early September will be the earliest they will be available for adoption, but if you are interested in meeting them before then, please contact their foster parents, Beth and Dave Harris at beth.harris1112@gmail.com. All pups will be spayed and neutered and will have received age appropriate vaccinations prior to adoption.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Overland Park already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Overland Park breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even St. Bernard/Border Collie breeders who help with St. Bernard/Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Overland Park paves the way for another one to be saved.
