Hi, I’m Hartley! I am a very special petite aka pocket Pittie girl who is about 2.5 years old. Hartley was adopted out from local high kill shelter on a medical waiver to a private adopter. Four months later, Hartley was found abandoned in a field in terrible condition. Hartley was brought to the same shelter again and her owner was put under criminal investigation for severe neglect, her entire body was covered in an easily treatable condition called Demodex mange which had also turned into a yeast and bacterial infection. We were able to rescue Hartley and bring her into our foster program where we have all fallen for this sweet little girl. Now, Hartley has been completely transformed and is a healthy, active girl who is eager to learn and please everyone around her. We all joke that Hartley has hearts in her eyes for every person she meets. She is the best snuggler and truly enjoys cuddling up next to her humans. Hartley would love to be the queen of someone's castle, if there is another animal in the home she prefers calm dogs as a canine companion to share her home with and of course with humans who could continue her training cause she loves to work and play to please! Hartley is crate trained, in fact she loves her crate so much. Hartley is also house trained, current on all vaccines, spayed, microchipped and has gone through extensive obedience training…she is the most trained dog in our rescue because she was lucky to live with our trainer for a few months! She is an absolute doll and will be so happy to find her forever home with you. About Orange County Pit Bull Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Orange County Pit Bull Rescue is an all volunteer organization working to build a community of responsible dog owners. We accept pit bulls from a variety of unfortunate circumstances and provide them with a second chance. Since we do not have a boarding facility, all OCPBR dogs are taken into responsible, loving foster homes. The dogs stay with their foster families until their own forever home is found. We are also working on developing free and low-cost resources for spay/neuter, microchipping, vaccinations, and training. Contact us today if you’d like to be part of the solution!
Mission Statement: Orange County Pit Bull Rescue will work to create a safe, supportive community for Pit Bulls by:

1. Rescuing dogs that meet the standard temperament for pit bulls and placing them in foster care. Providing proper socialization, medical care and training to ensure successful placement in adoptive homes.

2. Working with our community to keep Pit Bulls from entering shelters. Providing support to owners to help with any challenges faced owning this breed. Offering necessary assistance such as free food and supplies, referrals and advice, and financial help when available.

3. Developing free and low-cost spay and neuter programs as well as vaccination and microchipping clinics for low-income pit bull owners.

4. Building a community of support for Pit Bull Owners by providing activities and opportunities for proper socialization; advising on positive ways to train your Pit Bull and help with behavioral problems; and education on responsible ownership and bite prevention.

5. Working to change perceptions of pit bulls by educating the public on the history and true temperament of the breed; adopting out breed ambassadors to responsible owners and offering assistance to owners who would like their dogs to become certified Canine Good Citizens and/or therapy dogs.

Our Adoption Process...

All of our wonderful adoptable Pit Bulls are screened for temperament, and placed in foster homes prior to adoption. Applicants are required to fill out an adoption application and recieve a subsequent home visit with the adoptable dog. Our adoption fee is $250 ($300 for dogs less than a year) and includes a spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, deworming, microchip and collar. We provide owner support for the lifetime of the animal.
