Do you have a beagle who needs a playmate? Consider Miles, a charming, handsome beagle-basset mix. He’s a bit shy, but if you rub his ears, scratch his head, and give him a liver treat, he’ll be your friend.
Miles shares his foster home with a 9-year-old female beagle and four cats. He’s thoroughly uninterested in the cats and tends to give them the right-of-way. Miles is friendly with the resident beagle and will play, chase, and tussle as long as long as she’s willing to indulge him. He tends to follow her lead and would be happiest in a home with a confident, playful dog.
Miles enjoys playing with various toys - he’s a clever boy, and if he can’t find a toy he likes, he’ll make his own. For this reason, he should be crated when he’s home alone, or confined to a room without fragile/edible objects. He’s most in his element outside, where he can put his hound qualities to work and patrol the yard, tracking all manner of smells, which he announces with a big, bold, ground-shaking bark.
Miles is crate trained and housetrained. He goes in his crate at night and when he has to stay home alone. He’s working on leash training, and is generally a fun, friendly, likeable guy.
Miles is about 4 years old and weighs about 34 pounds. He’s about as tall as a typical beagle, but longer and quite solidly built.
