Ruby's Story...
**Ruby is not currently with the Riley County Humane Society, she is a courtesy post for his owners. If you are interested in Ruby please contact dog-coordinators@rchsks.org**

Ruby is a 5 year old 47 lb hound mix. She is a sweet girl once she gets to know a person but will be timid with new people at first. She reportedly does well with cats and kids. Ruby would do best in a home where she is the only dog. She is potty and crate trained and she knows several commands. She is not overly vocal but will bark when her food is being prepared or when she wants to let you know she is ready to come back inside. She does need some work with her leash manners and needs an owner who will be strong enough to work with her on leash.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ruby, a Manhattan Hound (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Hound (Unknown Type) for sale in Manhattan, or seeking a Hound (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Manhattan.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Manhattan already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Manhattan breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Hound (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Hound (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Manhattan paves the way for another one to be saved.
