ADOPTION and FOSTER forms can be printed from our website: wrenyorkierescue.org PLEASE SUBMIT APPLICATION FORM before emailing. Soon after we receive your completed paperwork, we will chat and help you determine which dog[s] you and your family members want to interview at your home. We will schedule a convenient visit time [about an hour, sometimes longer] so the potential new family member[s] and you can relax and get to know each other. If all goes well, you can expect to begin your 'honeymoon' period. We will consider you a FOSTER during this period. After a few weeks, you will know if your routine and expectations match the dog's needs and requirements. If so, we will draw up an adoption contract for your new family member.

Brandy weighs 12# and is 9 yrs old. She has been a mama many times and now just wants to be a loved lapdog.

About Wren Yorkie Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a NO-KILL small family rescue in Oakland, CA and an IRS- approved 501[c]3 non-profit Breed Specific Animal Rescue. EIN# 46-3585086. Mrs. Wren has been a vet-tech and dog/cat groomer for many years, involved with animal rescue work for 4 decades, and has specialized in rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing Yorkshire Terriers since 1995.

Private Rescues are different from public facilities:
We consist of a network of unpaid, animal-dedicated individuals and foster families who volunteer their own time and money to care for companion animals in their homes, treating them as cherished members of their own families until just the right permanent new adoptive home can be found among the applications received.

We have no building [and no cages!], no staff, no public viewing hours, and no predictable source of reliable or consistent revenue. We subsist on and greatly appreciate all donations and offers of assistance, particularly temporary foster homes!

If you are unable to foster or adopt, but would still like to help, we invite you to offer support at whatever level is comfortable. Email WrenYorkieRescue@aol.com to inquire how you might assist using your time and talent or make a donation via PayPal.

Funding is accomplished entirely through personal finances, private donations, and ADOPTION fees--averaging $400-- which frequently do NOT cover costs of getting a dog ready to be settled into a new permanent family home.
Our average annual Rescue expenses are about $60,000, most of which is never recovered. Average out-of-pocket costs to get a dog restored to health and placed in the right new home run around $400--lots more if there are special medical needs beyond spay/neuter and dental to be met.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We have participated in the Maddie's Fund annual adoption events since 2010. Maddie's Fund (www.maddiesfund.org) is a family foundation founded in 1994 by Workday co-founder Dave Duffield and his wife, Cheryl, who have endowed the Foundation with more than $300 million. Since then, they have awarded more than $153 million in grants toward increased community lifesaving, shelter medicine education, and pet adoptions across the U.S. The Duffields named Maddie's Fund after their Miniature Schnauzer Maddie, who always made them laugh and comforted them during stressful business times when Dave was launching a startup software company. Maddie was with Dave and Cheryl from 1987-1997 and continues to inspire them today. Wren Yorkie Rescue rehomed 59 qualified dogs during the May 30-31, 2015 event.

Our Adoption Process...

Average adoption fee is $400/dog, adjustable on an individual basis; payable in installments if necessary, Steps: 1. read the dog's "back story" carefully to determine which pet might be a good fit for your situation and expectations. 2. send an EMAIL asking WrenYorkieRescue@aol.com for an application or visit www.wrenyorkierescue.org to print your forms; 3. Read carefully, complete and return all sections of the application; 3. Allow us time to contact the people you have listed as references who know you as a pet guardian. 4. We will call to clarify understanding of responses and give you the opportunity ask additional questions; 5. A visit to your home will be scheduled to meet you and all people who will potentially be involved in the dog's daily life at your location, and to observe the dog's reactions to those people and your space as well as dog/human interaction and "chemistry". If all seems right, the adoption fee will be collected and the dog will be allowed to remain with you for a trial adoption period of 2 to 4 weeks to assure a good match.

After the trial period, an adoption contract will be drawn up and signed by you, wherein you agree to meet the dog's medical, physical and emotional needs, and agree to return the dog to a Rescue [NOT a shelter] if at some time your circumstances alter and you are no longer able to care for the dog. This Rescue must be notified if the dog changes owners or residence.

A reasonable portion of the adoption fee will be refunded if the dog need to be returned within 30 days.
