ADOPTED ON 12-17-16 - - All too often we hear the stories of abandoned puppies, rescued by wonderful people, and adopted to loving homes. They were very young and will probably never know anything but love and happiness. But sometimes we hear of the horrific tragedies that occur to beautiful dogs and we are left speechless, wondering just what would cause someone to be so cruel and how these dogs will ever come through it OK if given a second chance.
Rose one of those dogs. A sweet Lab mix with beautiful brown and white markings. Rose should have been brought in to the family as a cherished member where she could run and play like puppies need and love to. Instead, she was brought to a family as a puppy, tied to a tree, where, according to a neighbor, she remained alone all day. As if this was not cruel enough, a few months later her owners decided to crop her tail. They used no pain killers, and after several weeks when the stump got infected, when asked to take Rose to a vet, they refused.
We can’t even imagine someone doing that to a dog; the pain and suffering this little girl went through, tied to a tree and enduring this abuse was deplorable and disturbing. Those of us who understand that dogs will love us no matter what, they will protect us and even lay down their life to save us are shocked. Luckily, the neighbor who witnessed what Rose went through since the day she arrived could stand it no more. She asked them to surrender Rose to her so she could get her immediate medical attention. They agreed, and Rose saw a vet soon after.
Today, all because of another guardian angel who could no longer stand by and watch this cruelty continue, Rose is a blossoming, she is 8 months old and is healing nicely. Her stump had to be removed completely to avoid infection into her spine, but that does not take away from Rose good looks. The most amazing part of this story, however, is how Rose came through this with the sweetest disposition. She is shy, but when she trusts that you will not hurt her she warms right up. What a truly wonderful dog Rose must be to be able to endure that treatment and still be willing to trust humans. This is a testament to what kind of family member she would be, and any family would be blessed to have her. Rose deserves nothing less than a perfect home where she will be treated like a princess. Are you lucky enough to welcome this special girl into your home?

ABOUT THE BREED
Labs are healthy dogs and generally will live long lives of 10 to 14 years and are one of the most popular breeds in the USA because they are loyal, loving, affectionate and patient, making great family dogs. They are highly intelligent, good-natured, very willing and eager to please; they are among the top choices for service dog work. They love to play, especially in water, never wanting to pass up the opportunity for a good swim.
These lively dogs have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human leadership and need to feel as though they are part of the family and are easily trained. This breed of dog is wonderful with people of all ages, and interacts well with children.
If a Lab has had plenty of exposure to other dogs, cats, and small animals, and has been trained, he'll be friendly with other pets, too. They get along well with other dogs and can easily adapt to live with other small pets.
Not only loves kids, he enjoys the commotion they bring with them. He'll happily attend a child's birthday party, and even willingly wear a party hat. Like all dogs, however, he needs to be trained how to act around kids — and kids need to be taught how to act around the dog. As with every breed, you should always teach children how to approach and touch dogs, and always supervise any interactions between dogs and young children to prevent any biting or ear or tail pulling on the part of either party. No dog, no matter how friendly, should ever be left unsupervised with a child.
The Lab is a wonderful family dog that gets along with all members both big and small, rarely are they aggressive. They are very loving and affectionate and are eagerly playful. Labs have a very positive temperament and get along with most strangers.
Lab loves to run, swim, and play with children and adults alike. They are extremely loyal to their owners, hard-working and are generally good-natured, originally a type of gun dog. Labs are extremely versatile and have been put to use in the following roles: hunting, guide dog for the blind, police k9, search and rescue, drug sniffing, retrieving, as well as tricks and competitive obedience.

About Our Rescue
These dogs deserve all of our attention, and in Rescue Dog Village, we are committed to our adopters and our dogs equally. We offer full disclosure and hope to make the best matches possible. Please know our adoption fees never cover our expenses. We rely on the generosity of our adopters and supporters to help us help the dogs.
Our rescue is ONLY in the business of offering FULL DISCLOSURE to adopters, and expects and hopes to engage your questions and concerns fully. We owe it to the dogs we rescue and all the wonderful families/adopters who might consider welcoming our charges into their hearts and home. Our dogs are waiting for that ideal forever home where they will be cherished as deserving family members. It's sad these second chances are even necessary for these dogs, but we are committed to them and will devote the time and energy to their rehoming, and not just MOVE them to save more dogs. We diligently and responsibly seek good matches as we don't want to re-home the dog again. These animals have already endured more than they should have, and through no fault of their own. It behooves us to be honest and forthright, and we appreciate the same in return from applicants. It's that winning combination of reciprocal trust and respect that allows for successful placements to be made. Happy adopters translate to happy dogs, and that's our goal!
Our rescue volunteers will be more than honored to be in touch with you directly and promptly, after receiving your application and conducting a mandatory a veterinarian check. If you have never owned a dog before, please submit your application regardless, and we will be in touch with you as soon as possible. TAKE NOTE YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR SPAM AS SOME RESPONSES FROM US WIND UP THERE WE'VE DISCOVERED. Also, take care to contact your veterinarian to let them know a member of rescue will be inquiring about your pet history!
Thank you for respecting that we all donate our time to saving these animals, and understand we value your philanthropic and compassionate desire to help be part of the rescue team. That said, you'll understand why we are committed to the well-being of our charges and consider this veterinarian check mandatory. If you are a first-time dog owner, we will work with you every step of the way! ADVOCACY AND EDUCATION ARE AS MUCH A PART OF RESPONSIBLE RESCUE AS ADOPTION! And it takes a RESCUE VILLAGE to help the most dogs possible in a thorough manner to ensure success on all fronts, and then some! It is an awful feeling to fail a dog, and we can't continue rescue if we don't do everything we can to ensure good matches for the dogs and tender families who might adopt them. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING.
Although we are an extremely small rescue group, we understand and respect your family's eagerness to be in touch and learn as much as you can about the dogs you are considering adopting. Our very experienced and devoted trainer will be happy to share all aspects of OUR RESCUE DOGS to determine compatibility once you've submitted your application, and another of our volunteers will explain the whole process of our rescue and answer any questions you might have as well
