Facts about Mickie

  • Breed: Border Collie Mix
  • Color: Black - With White
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
Mickie is a loving 8yr old, spayed female, border collie mix. She's microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and has a clean bill of health. Mickie's quite the character. She was used to staying in a crate- which has now become her toy box and occasional napping spot. She is the perfect guard dog! A loyal companion and leader of the neighborhood watch. She keeps tabs on the neighbors from her window seat. She is not a big fan of dog beds, with her thick coat she prefers to lay on the hard wood floor. She's not into tearing up furniture, chewing on things or counter surfing. She has quite a bit of freedom and loves the doggie door. She is working on overcoming her fear of the vacuum and loud noises. She is a happy dog who loves her butt scratched and will greet you the moment you come in with a smile. She's great for a car ride and prefers the back seat. Mickie is a very good, sweet dog, and the perfect home would be with an active, loving family with no children or older ones that will respect her space. She is not dog aggressive and has done well with laid back dogs, but she needs a home where she is the one and only due to her bossy nature.

About Texas Pit Crew

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a non-profit volunteer ran organization dedicated to eradicating animal cruelty to all breeds in Wichita and surrounding counties. While we will help any animal in need that we can, we seek to promote the bully breed as the loving and loyal animals they are. All our animals are in private foster homes of caring volunteers. Our animals come to us under many different circumstances. They may be from an accidental or unwanted litter, the one abandoned at a shelter, the one that "got too big", the one sitting on the side of the road waiting for the owner, the one that escaped their chain, the irresponsible result of a breeder, the one left behind when the owners moved, or the one beat and left for dead. The list could go on. We hold adoption events throughout the year and during the colder months we hit the streets looking for neglected and/or dogs in need. We hand out cold weather supplies and educate owners about community resources that are available and proper dog ownership.

Donate to Our Rescue Group...

We are a all volunteer 501c3 non-profit rescue group. Donations can be mailed to our post office box, dropped off at events or we can always pick them up (arrangements will need to be made.) We are always in need of: Monetary donations, dog food (preferably Country Dog Food sold at Wichita Pet Supply), dog houses, straw, sponsorships at PETS, collars, leashes, puppy pee pads, dog shampoo and flea & tick drops.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are an all-volunteer, foster based rescue organization. We do not have a public shelter facility, so most of our meet-and-greet are by appointments. You can also check out our calendar of events on our Facebook page, facebook.com/txpitcrew940, for other opportunities to meet our pups. Of course, we will always try to be as flexible as possible when scheduling meet-and-greets.

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption process:

Step 1: Complete the Adoption Application. You can request an adoption application via email. Once complete the form can be emailed back for review. You can always pick a adoption application at any of our events.

Step 2: We will review completed applications, do reference and fence checks, as well as a home visit, if needed. Please remember that adopting a pup is making a commitment of 10-15 years, so we do not take any shortcuts in processing applications. It is our responsibility to place these pups in the very best homes we can possibly find for them.

Step 3: When your Adoption Application is approved, we will schedule a time for you to meet the pup that just might be the newest member of your family.

***Please remember that we are an all-volunteer, foster based rescue organization. We do not have a public shelter facility, so all meetings for potential adopters and fosters are done by appointment only. ***

Step 4: After the meeting, if everything seems to be a perfect match, the final step is the signing of the Adoption Contract, payment of the $125 adoption fee and $75 deposit (if the animal is not spayed or neutered yet), and taking your new family member home.
