Facts about Zelda

  • Color: Black (All)
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Female
  • Hair: Short
Zelda is a one-year-old black female cat. Zelda was fending for herself in a residential backyard, trying to survive outside. She was thin and ready to bear young ones. A kindly resident took her in so Zelda could have her kittens in safety, but the resident was unable to keep her as she had pets of her own. Zelda proved to be a doting and focused mom, watching over her youngsters with great care and attention. You could see the pride and love Zelda had for her babies radiating from her. All of her kittens have found loving homes, and now it’s Zelda’s turn! We suspect Zelda may have encountered some human unkindness before the resident rescued her, and she was abandoned by her former family when they moved. Zelda longs for human love and kindness that she never has had the opportunity to experience. She’s a great observer and a gentle soul. Zelda will blossom in a quiet home that will cherish and care for her. Maybe that’s you!

At PAAWS RI, all of the cats that come into our care are spayed/neutered, receive a rabies vaccination, distemper vaccinations, de-worming, flea treatment, microchipping, and testing for Feline Leukemia/FIV.

About Our Shelter...

The mission of PAAWS RI is to provide services to Rhode Island’s most vulnerable populations of animals, through two specific programs.

The first part of our mission is to maintain a shelter/rescue program. Stray and abandoned animals have limited options for treatment through traditional veterinarians and shelters.

PAAWS RI will fill this gap with our shelter/rescue program and provide these homeless animals with shelter, medical care and rehabilitation. Once these animals are returned to
optimal health they will be adopted out to their forever home.

Many cats and dogs are suffering with easily treatable problems because affordable veterinary care is unavailable. We will fill that void with our program to provide funding for medical and surgical services. Recipients of these subsides will be animals belonging to low-income pet owners and shelter groups. Services include preventative and sick animal care, surgical and dental procedures, vaccinations and spay/neuter surgeries.
