Fudge's Story...
Honeybun and her 7 (yes 7!) puppies found their way to Chatham County Animal Control. As luck would have it, we had an open foster home for a mom nursing puppies and all got a freedom ride as soon as their hold was up.

While mom is a Doxie mix, their coats and patterns lead us to believe that dad may have been an Aussie mix. He hasn't dropped a note in the mail to see how they are doing, so we can't ask him.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Fudge, a Savannah Dachshund/Australian Shepherd puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Australian Shepherd for sale in Savannah, or seeking a Dachshund/Australian Shepherd puppy from a breeder in Savannah.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Savannah already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Savannah breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Dachshund/Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Savannah paves the way for another one to be saved.
