Avery's Story...
This very exotic and handsome little Casanova is Avery. Avery is a 2 year old 9 pound type A Rat Terrier. (Hummmm...does that mean he's an over achiever, perhaps?!). He gets along with most dogs, especially the ladies. On first meeting, he can be a little shy, particularly with men, but he warms up fast, especially if treats are involved. Avery enjoys sitting as close to his person as possible and romping around the yard in the sun. He is house trained, crate-trained, and uses the dog door. If you would like to make Avery part of your family, please fill out an application at www.lapdogrescue.org and include his name at the top.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Avery, a Tijeras Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rat Terrier for sale in Tijeras, or seeking a Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in Tijeras.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tijeras already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tijeras breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rat Terrier breeders who help with Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tijeras paves the way for another one to be saved.
