"Hi there! My name is Kane and I am looking for my forever home! I am just the sweetest dog with lots of love to give! Sometimes I can be shy around new people as I am mostly deaf in both ears and can sometimes be sensitive to touch around my head. The staff here has been working with me for some time now on my socialization skills and dog introductions. I love to play and give kisses. I also love treats! Meet me today!" -Kane
Someone who really loves Kane paid all his adoption fees for you. About Humane Society of Sedona

About Our Shelter...

Our Vision - Be Our Heart & Voice
Building a caring community where every adoptable and treatable pet finds a life-long loving home.

Our Mission
The Humane Society of Sedona is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of pets in our community and beyond. The Society has served the Verde Valley since 1966.

The Linda and Allan Brecher Center for Animals at the society is designed to allow every person, who desires the love of a pet, to adopt and provide a forever loving home. The Center provides quality care and positive reinforcement behavior training for adoptable pets. Passionate volunteers help walk and socialize the pets in our care. Foster pet parents are an important part of caring for pets outside the Center.

The Society provides vital services for pets and people alike through income-based affordable spay/neuter surgeries and vaccination clinics. Also, for families in need to feed their pets, we have a Pet Food Program.

Another public resource is our adult and youth educational programs.

The Society relies on community support, contributions, grants, bequests, investments, proceeds from the Society’s thrift stores and some fees for service in order to save pets’ lives.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are open seven days a week Sunday - Monday, 10-4. We are located in West Sedona and welcome visitors. If you are interested in a tour, we'd be happy to show you around! We also have an RV to transport cats and dogs to off-site adoption events. To see where the RV will be next check out our website calendar at

Our Adoption Process...

We invite anyone interested in adopting a pet to visit our shelter and meet with the cats and dogs. We have adoption counselors on staff who can help find you the perfect pet! If you are looking to adopt a dog and already have a dog(s) we do encourage a meet and greet between them .

In order to find the best possible home for these companion animals everyone must go through the same adoption process. The Humane Society has established certain guidelines which were developed for the well-being of the animal and its guardian.

1. The adoption counselor interviews all potential adopters.
2. Individuals are given a chance to interact with the animals.
3. Once an animal is selected, an adoption application must be completed and processed. All landlords will be called for verification of "Pets Allowed".
4. Adoption Contract is completed when the animal is picked up.

Our adoption fees are $70 per cat, $30 for cats 7 years or older and $120.00 for kittens. $100 per dog, $40 for dogs 7 years or older and $120 for puppies. All pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, microchipped and come with a collar and ID tag. All cats are FeLV and FIV tested.

VIP cats and dogs have an adoption fee of $125. VIPs are highly desirable breeds/mixes/designer mixed breeds. Higher adoption fees for VIPs help fund the care of all pets.

The Humane Society of Sedona is proud to launch it's Seniors for Seniors Program. The program places senior cats and dogs (over 7 years of age) with senior citizens who are over 60 years of age, so both the pet owner and the pet can enjoy their golden years together, in a shared comradery. For more information about this program please contact us at 928-282-4679
